Our Mission

The EcoCarbonMonitor tool provides near real-time (~2 week latency) carbon and methane flux data to the public and the scientific community. It serves as an open-access platform for researchers, educators, and policymakers to explore, visualize, and download high-resolution estimates of Net Ecosystem Exchange, Carbon Dioxide, and Methane flux data for Arctic and Boreal terrestrial ecosystems. EcoCarbonMonitor has been developed as part of the Arctic Warning Network (AWARE) aimed at synthesizing and communicating Arctic carbon emissions.

This tool combines advanced ecosystem modeling with satellite data assimilation to offer a comprehensive view of how carbon is exchanged between the land and the atmosphere.
